STUART YOUNG SUFFERING FROM FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE!

People are saying that whenever National Security Minister Stuart Young opens his mouth he puts his foot in it.

Last week Young said there was corruption taking place in this country, from “top to bottom,” People are asking if the Minister was admitting there is corruption in the Rowley administration from “top to bottom”. Who is at the top of the corruption ladder? Many have been saying there is more corruption in this Government under Rowley than under the Kamla Persad-Bissessar administration. More than three years have passed since the PNM came into office and all the allegations Rowley had made about rampant corruption in the Persad-Bissessar government not a single person has so far faced the court on any corruption or bribery charges. People are saying that Rowley is awaiting nearer the General Election to have PP Ministers charged on some trumped-up corruption charges. Presently there is corruption taking place in government ministries, state agencies and Regional Corporations. Recently when Young opened his mouth and said he is proposing that illegal Venezuelans who are in T&T be offered an amnesty and they will be able to get a chance to live here legally and work for one year, many more Venezuelans started to flock the country. He said the illegal migrants will be registered and given an identification card. As soon as Young made that announcement scores of Venezuelans who are fleeing their country because of the political and economic crisis there, are now coming here in droves both by air and by sea.

Recently some 32 illegal Venezuelans were held in Penal by the police. More and more are coming through the illegal ports in T&T. The Immigration department is facing a challenge to find a place to detain them since the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) at, Aripo, Wallerfield is currently overcrowded.
