Many persons are talking about the operations of the newly opened UNC Activity Office in Tunapuna.

When the office was opened on Saturday, March 16 UNC Political Leader, Kamla Persad Bissessar boasted that “there will not only be an open door but someone there to assist. It will be a haven for all who want to see Trinidad & Tobago working again.” But many UNC persons are saying that except for some legal advice offered to a few persons one week after the opening of the Activity Office, the office has been virtually inactive. They are asking where is Kamla’s “vision of one corridor movement to serve and service the people”? UNC members and supporters are saying that Party Chairman Peter Kanhai and his family have taken ownership of the Activity Office since on many days they can be seen actively cleaning. PM Dr. Keith Rowley at a public meeting at Five Rivers two Saturdays ago accused the UNC of “attempting to bribe the people of Tunapuna with stolen money.” This accusation caused UNC activist Devant Maharaj to rush off a letter of complaint to Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith asking for Rowley to be investigated.
